About Us
House of Dahlie was founded by Alison Dahlie Griffin, a serial entrepreneur and lover of all things design. Daehlie is a homage to her family name which means "Mountain House" in Norwegian. An appreciation for art and design came from her childhood surrounded by design books, her Dad's hand drawn blueprints and her Mom's pottery studio, but it still took years to realize design could be a profession.
Almost two decades in the health and beauty industry taught her ergonomics and the significance of how one's environment makes a huge impact on wellness. A move to Ucluelet with her young family lead to the wedding industry. First as a Makeup Artist, which made its way to floristry, then to full service wedding design while her studio space morphed into a unique gift shop. At the same time she had three children under five and a constant home renovation on the side, so it is safe to say she can handle deadlines, implement a plan and see it through.
With her children older, she finally pursued a proper Interior Design education. Now residing in the Alberni Valley with her husband and teenage daughters, she had an urge to serve the community so it was time to start her next venture. Knowing she will open a design studio but not being able to curate quality items locally for her clients was at first deflating, but after a few serendipitous meetings, House of Dahlie emerged. Through this venture, Alison hopes to use the Shop to inspire people to live better, employ talented individuals to pursue their passions and to support the community.
